The La Chouffe brewery story starts in the late 1970s, in the Vallée des Fées, two brothers-in-law, Pierre Gobron and Chris Bauweraerts, started brewing beer in a garage. This marked the beginning of the "Chouffe Story," with their first 49-liter brew on August 27, 1982. Initially a hobby, the Chouffe Brewery expanded when they purchased the farm where they brewed. By 1992, production of their Belgian beers had increased from 3,400 to 5,000 hectoliters annually, thanks to a new brewing house that allowed them to scale up each brew from 22 to 70 hectoliters.
