"Otago Pinot Barrel is our first release of whisky distilled through the stills at the distillery in Sandyford Street, Christchurch. Aged 3 ½ years in ex Otago Pinot Noir barrels, sourced from the Maude Vineyard in Wanaka and prepared and charred ourselves. This reddish-amber whisky delivers a fruity aroma and a smooth yet complex and rewarding flavour profile.
A uniquely New Zealand whisky aged in iconic New Zealand wine barrels, Otago Pinot Barrel is set to become a mainstay of the Divergence family.
Aromas of chocolate-dipped ripe cherries, hot cross bun, fig, blackberry, a touch of oak, almonds and vanilla greet the nose. The flavour follows with chocolate-dipped cherries, black currents, raisins, vanilla, and nutmeg, backed by smooth mouth-filling tannins and chocolatey oak".
