Craftwork
Loosely translated, Zinneke, is a mongrel hanging around the river Zenne, in Brussels. ̴This disparaging term, has been adopted by the locals to encourage their ethnic diversity and eccentricities. We called this beer a mongrel, a term often used by Craftwork brewers. It is a wild ale with a proportion of our own spontaniously fermented beer, blended with all sorts of stuff, aged for a year in a Waitaki valley Pinot Gris barrel. We imagine that each year's successive barrel will be different.
Zenneke is a sour beer, that is always changing, never the same- complex, tart, and refreshing. You may not like it, so we'll probably call you a mongrel.
