This is a traditional English old ale and very true to type. A strong beer, full bodied with an initial deceptive sweetness, but with hops enough to give a dry finish. It is definitely a beer to be savoured rather than quaffed. It slips down like velvet and makes an ideal partner for rich fruitcake and similar seasonal fare.
