Cameron is our distiller and this is his tribute to four things he loves: Australia, Christmas, gin and his late mum Wilma. Each year Wilma would make Christmas puddings on Victoria Derby Day while the rest of the family watched the races. So a couple of years ago, on Derby Day, Cam put some puds made to her recipe in the botanical basket of Wilma (our still) and distilled a gin. He was also working on a gin aged in our collection of 80-year-old muscat barrels. So he decided to blend these together and add a tweak of Classic Rutherglen Muscat. The result smells like gin and tastes like Christmas.
Sip straight over ice, simply mix with ginger ale or make a cracking Martinez.
For this year's label we asked Cairns artist Andrea Huelin to share her perfect Australian Christmas lunch scene. Andrea built her composition using found objects, colourful glassware, delicious homemade food and of course a cheeky glass of Australian Christmas Gin. She then photographed her scene in the brilliant Cairns sunshine before painting it in her trademark vibrant style, capturing every shadow, reflection and colour in brilliant vivid detail. The result, Prawns & Pavlova, the perfect cool festive lunch for our hot, hot Christmas afternoons.
