Ataahua Chardonnay Vintage 2014
The grapes that produced this rich and full bodied chardonnay are grown on 20 year old Mendoza clone vines in the warm dry Waipara Valley. This wine was fermented and matured for 9 months in seasonal French Oak barrels. With full malo-lactic fermentation, it shows a complexity and fullness of flavour typical of the Chardonnay from this Waipara vineyard. The intensity and richness of flavours in this wine make it a perfect partner to scallops, crayfish, and a huge variety of chicken dishes.
The beautiful Waipara Valley in North Canterbury is home to Ataahua Wines. Nestled between traditional pastoral and cropping farms, adjoining vineyards and the Waipara Domain lies Ataahua‰۪s vineyards.
The Maori translation of Ataahua is beautiful, picturesque, a place of beauty ‰ÛÒ so appropriate to the valley, the vineyard and the wines alike. A major part of Ataahua‰۪s philosophy for growing grapes then carefully making that fruit into wine is to translate and express the beauty of the vineyard and area into wines that people can relate to and absolutely enjoy.
